Fitment: Audi RS3 8Y 2020+

Following our RS3 8V system, we have updated the fitment to now include the 8Y. The RS3 8Y intake system caters for all power levels from stock to those exceeding 1000whp. This intake system has been developed to offer the highest possible flow rate whilst maintaining the lowest intake temperatures possible. Each component has been designed to provide the turbo with a smooth and free flowing path. The intake tube has an internal diameter of 103mm or just over 4″ and has a smooth curvature from the filter housing all the way to the turbo inlet. The filter itself has been specifically designed for this intake and has a huge outer diameter of 210mm or 8.3″ with a filtration surface area of over 130,000mm^2. The patented Venturi housing has been designed to provide the maximum internal volume possible for the RS3 engine bay space available and provides laminar flow to the turbo tube. Finally the duct seals the filter opening to the front slam panel but is not restricted by just the stock entry feed. We have lifted the front of the duct to now provide an extra opening behind the hood which is equivalent to an extra 7″ diameter hole for the intake to draw from. The resulting system has the capability of flowing 840 CFM at 28″ H2O while keeping intake temperatures at a minimum with the sealed design.

The Eventuri Difference

The RS3 8Y Eventuri system uses our Patented Carbon fiber Housings which provide an aerodynamically efficient airflow path from the filter to the turbo tubing. Flow Bench Testing

We conducted flow rate tests using a Superflow SF-1020 to measure the maximum flow rate possible at a pressure drop of 28” H2O. Tests were done on the same day in controlled conditions using the same test jig for each system. We tested our full intake system against the stock airbox system. The results show just how restrictive the stock airbox is, which we have managed to improve by up to 58% in maximum possible flow rate. Importantly this has been achieved with a sealed intake system so the intake temperatures will also be maintained at a minimum.

Dyno Testing

Our RS3 Intake has been tested by various reputable tuners globally who have been building high powered RS3/TTRS projects for road and track use. The first set of results are from MSL Performance who tested our system on a stock 8Y RS3. Tests were done on the same day back to back. As can be seen, there is a measurable gain throughout the RPM range of up to 22hp. This gain even on a stock car is noticeable on the road with better throttle response and quicker acceleration.

The next set of results are from BR Performance Netherlands who tested our system on a TTRS equipped with a TTE700 hybrid turbo. Tests were done on the same day back to back with the hood closed. They tested the stock airbox against our stage 3 intake and also with the addition of our 4″ turbo inlet tube which is an additional product – details can be seen on our Audi products page.

Dyno Results Summary:

  • Stock Airbox with Modified Stock Turbo Inlet for TTE700 = 576.5 HP
  • Eventuri Stage 3 Intake with Modified Stock Turbo Inlet for TTE700 = 606.5 HP
  • Eventuri Stage 3 Intake with Eventuri Turbo Inlet for TTE700 = 620.8 HP

Our RS3 intake has also been tested on full frame turbo builds pushing the limits of the DAZA engine. Recent tests from Eurocharged Canada used our stage 3 intake to achieve 1010whp which further proves the flow capability of the Eventuri system. During testing, Eurocharged tuners commented that they were able to make more power at a lower boost setting using our stage 3 intake in comparison to other systems they had been using. Their RS3 has already achieved a 9.1 second quarter mile pass with a 160mph terminal speed and are well set to go under 9 seconds soon.

The gains are from a combination of reasons:

1) The sealed system keeps IATs low – the RS3 engine bay can get heat soaked very quickly so an open cone filter will cause an increase in IAT values resulting in a loss of performance.

2) The Venturi housing provides a smooth transition from the filter to the intake tubes which are both matched to an internal diameter of 103mm. This helps the hybrid and full frame turbo setups to run more efficiently.

3) The entire system is constructed from pure pre-preg carbon fibre which is great at insulating from heat and has smooth internal surfaces as opposed to fibreglass which will have sharp resin lines present.

The Eventuri RS3 8Y intake system consists of a number of components engineered to perform a specific purpose and fabricated to the highest of standards. We use 100% pre-preg carbon fiber with no fibreglass which means we can achieve a smooth internal surface to maintain smoother airflow. Here are the details for each component and the design ethos behind them:

Patented Venturi Filter Housing Assembly

The Stage 3 filter housing comprises of a bespoke high flow filter, aluminium cowl, laser cut brackets and the carbon pod itself. The carbon pod shrouds the reverse mounted filter and smoothly shape the airflow down to the intake tubes. This smooth reduction in cross sectional area invokes the Venturi effect where the airflow accelerates whilst maintaining laminar conditions. It can be thought of as a large velocity stack – below is a diagram to show the comparison between our patented design and a regular intake system. Bespoke Stage 3 Cone Filter

In order to achieve the highest flow rate possible we had to redesign our stage 2 filter and increase the size to as large as was possible withing the RS3 engine bay area. The resulting filter has an outside diameter of 210mm or 8.3″ and when flow tested with just the carbon housing is able to flow up to 940 CFM at 28″ H2O. The filter medium is ISO tested to ensure that filtration is in line with OEM standards and is also dry. The filter is constructed with our signature flow cones to aid in the Venturi housing principle.

Carbon Fiber Intake Duct

The duct channels ambient air from the slam panel area to the filter housing. It fits inside the OEM ducting system and smoothly transitions to the circular filter housing shape. In order to ensure a good seal against engine bay heat – it also has a flexible rubber edging around the opening which presses against the filter housings creating the desired seal yet allowing the housing to move with the engine. Since this was designed to support high power builds, we found that the stock openings in the slam panel could cause a restriction at high flow demand. So we lifted the top surface of the duct and created an opening above the slam panel which is able to draw in cold air from behind the hood shut. This extra opening is equivalent to a hole with a diameter of over 7″ and completely derestricts the stock cold air feed. The stage 3 duct was designed to have the maximum internal volume possible within the given geometry of the engine bay. This ensures that the filter housing is able to draw with minimum restriction.

We also made sure that the stage 3 duct is compatible with larger aftermarket throttle bodies.

Carbon Fiber Intake Tube

The intake tube is crafted from 100% prepreg carbon fiber and so as mentioned the internal surface is smooth and the carbon weave can be seen. The stage 3 tube has an internal diameter of 103mm or 4″ and has a smoooth curvature to minimise pressure drop. It channels airflow from the Venturi housing to the turbo inlet. The smooth bend geometry ensures laminar flow is maintained from the filters to the exits.

Heat Shield

Due to the intense heat generated by the turbo, we designed a heat shield to protect the carbon tube. The shield is powder coated black but has a gold reflective layer on the base which deflects radiation heat from the turbo and catalyst. It has a stainless steel brace to provide rigidity and curves around the back of the tube to deflect convective heat away. Please note – this shield may not fit some full frame turbo systems with a different exhaust manifold.

OPF (DWNA) Adapter

Each intake comes with a DWNA adapter for those engines with this conversion.

We are proud to announce our new air intake system for the MK8 VW Golf GTI/ 8Y Audi A3 EVO4! This is the largest intake available, and it is excellent for tuned vehicles that require the extra airflow.

The OEM air scoop works in conjunction with our sealed airbox to seamlessly force cold air into our air intake system.  Air then flows through our 3.5″ high flow air filter, which utilizes an inverted cone design for maximum engine breathing.  Our 3.5″ CNC mandrel-bent aluminum intake pipe allows for smooth entry of cold air directly into the engine, minimizing turbulence from unnecessary connections. All of the components included in the CTS air intake system work flawlessly together to provide increased horsepower and torque throughout the entire power band and an aggressive race-inspired sound. Peak power gains range from 9-13HP on an otherwise stock vehicle.

WHAT IT DOES.

The VWR High-Flow Turbo Inlet Hose is for all MQB 2.0 and 1.8 TSI cars. The reinforced Silicone Inlet Hose has been engineered to increase air flow through to the turbocharger as the perfect compliment our VWR R600 Cold Air Intake or even the standard airbox.  

  • A simple fitment, it replaces the entire restrictive rear factory plastic ‘bellows’ pipe between the airbox and the turbocharger inlet. 
  • The large diameter smooth-flowing silicon hose, crucially with enough compliance to allow for adequate engine movement without causing damage to the intake. 
  • Back-to-back comparisons with the factory pipe on our flow bench reveals an impressive improvement in airflow, and makes this hose a great compliment to the R600 intake.

Here at Blackboost we strive to make only the best, we are simply not interested in developing products that are just like any other.  This is easy to see this when looking at our cold air intake system developed for the Mercedes W212 E63(S) W218 CLS63 AMG with it’s BiTurbo 5.5l biturbo engine.  Many innovations exist here that are simply not seen within the rest of the aftermarket, from the type of filters we use, to the level of complexity of our air box / heat shields, to the fully sealed design, to the vent to atmosphere blow off valve conversion and customized logo plate.  Read below to see an itemized list of what makes our product superior to the rest: AIR BOXES The filter is only half the battle when designing this product, as maintaining nothing but cold air into the engine is equally important when it comes to an air intake system.  Many companies claim to have cold air intake systems, but with air boxes that only go around half of the filter, it is obvious that there is still a massive amount of ultra hot air from the radiator entering the engine directly.  The cooler the air that enters the engine, the higher the power, because cooler air is more dense, and having more air molecules entering the combustion chamber allows you to add more fuel, ultimately resulting in more power!  Higher reliability is achieved also, as an engine running cooler is an engine less prone to knock causing detonation; a true engine killer!  These engines are very sensitive and highly tuned German built machines, and the engineers at Mercedes would lose sleep at night knowing that hot air is entering their precious mechanical masterpiece of an engine.  Our intake is designed with an airbox that fully isolates the filter from every single side, and incorporates a compressible rubber gasket on it’s upper edge to seal against the hood, guaranteeing that once the hood is closed absolutely zero hot engine bay air can enter the engine.  One look at the complexity of the folds and shape of our airbox and it is easy to see why nobody else has made a fully sealed design, while simultaneously using such a large filter..  With many bends and edges formed to match the ultra-tight space available, the engineering that has gone into these assemblies is quite complex and in depth.  Even we have gone the extra length to add compound long radius bends into the process of manufacturing the inlet areas, so the factory inlet tubes fit with a tight seal, assuring that no hot engine bay air leaks inside.  This airbox is entirely designed in 3D CAD software, laser cut, CNC bent, and professionally TIG welded all by highly skilled craftsmen.  Utilizing aircraft grade 6061 Aluminum, and finished with a highly durable and heat resistant black textured powdercoating, it is easy to see that staying lightweight, maintaining the lowest temperatures and also having the highest quality is our greatest concern.     BMC FILTERS We utilize BMC air filters, with the best filtration ability of any other company in the world, companies like Lamborghini, Ferrari and Porsche are known to use BMC in certain factory applications.  You cannot have the best intake without having the best filters, and the Italian made BMC filter brand is at the top of the filter food chain.  They filter an incredible 7 micron size particle, factory paper filters can only achieve 10 microns.  The physical size of our filters are the largest available from any company on the market giving you a significantly higher surface area for filtration.  The particular BMC filter we choose to use is a twin air design, meaning there is an additional set of filter elements in the front of the filter, giving even more available flow than would otherwise be offered.  When you consider that BMC filters are already the best, and additionally we are using larger filters with more surface area than any other company, it is easy to see why greater performance is the obvious outcome in such a scenario, as we achieve higher flow!   PERSONALIZED LASER ENGRAVED LOGO PLATES Something that we are very proud of here at Blackboost is how we are able to achieve world class performance gains with only the highest quality products, while simultaneously designing things in a very visually attractive and classy manner.  Form always follows function for us, as we always prioritize the highest possible power levels, however we make a way for our products to look good as well!  Everything about our intake is beautiful, however the one touch we are especially proud of is our Laser cut and engraved Stainless steel logo plates!  With our signature Honeycomb engraving to give a well thought out look, as well as incorporating our company’s name, the information about the product, a serial number, and also the option to write who the intake is hand crafted for!  If you do not want to write your name, you can write anything you want within the available space, this is your choice, and if you choose not to write anything this is also ok.  We care a lot about make our products special and personal for the customer, and we have found that a really amazing way to do this is to give this option to write your own name or title on the logo plates.  Ultimately all of this effort results in something you can feel proud to display and show off to your friends when opening your hood!
