Description

Performance Increase : 16-25hp, 15-22ft-lb

The VAG 2.0 TFSi Eventuri intake has been developed to provide the most efficient and direct airflow path to the turbo. By replacing the OEM our Patent Pending Venturi housing and coupling this with a smooth duct, we have ensured that the airlfow remains as laminar as possible. Furthermore, the addition of a true cold air feed by adding a scoop to the front grill results in the lowest possible inlet air temperature. The result is an optimised intake system which delivers noticeable performance gains consistently.

The Eventuri Difference

The 2.0 TFSi system uses our Patent Pending Carbon fibre Housing which provides an aerodynamically efficient airflow path from the filter to the turbo tube. Not just another cone filter with a heat shield but a unique design which allows airflow to remain laminar and thus improve the turbo efficiency. You can read more about the housing design and how it works here.

The standard airbox is cuboid in shape which gives rise to turbulence and increases the drag on the turbo as a result. Furthermore it draws air from a duct, which despite extending over the entire grill is in fact only open on one side and this opening is also facing the engine so the airbox draws in warm engine bay heat. In addition, when the bonnet is closed, the only direct path for cold air is from the small slots in the top of the grill (for the Golf 7 variants).

The following dyno graphs show the before and after results on a Golf 7 R which already had a remap. So both the stock airbox and the Eventuri were tested with the same remap in place. All tests were carried out back to back on the same day with the BONNET CLOSED ON ALL OCCASIONS.

Independent Dyno Test BR Performance from Belgium have tested this intake on a stage 1 tuned Clubsport using their in-house dyno and the intake achieved a 19HP gain:

Single VS Double Duct During the development of our system we designed and tested both the single duct and also an extended double duct version:

The testing showed that the double duct did not produce more power, in fact we could not achieve the same results as we did with our single duct design. This is because the single duct allows for the smoothest and most direct airflow path to the filter. With the scoop directly in front of the opening there is no chance for warm air to mix with the airflow. Furthermore on the double duct, the airflow has to travel at almost a 90 degree angle from the far side of the grill to then enter the filter housing. Here is a dyno graph showing the results we achieved with both duct designs:

The Eventuri Golf 7 intake system consists of a number of components engineered to perform a specific purpose and fabricated to the highest of standards. Here are the details for each component and the design ethos behind them:

    • Each intake system consists of:

      • Prepreg Carbon Fibre Venturi Housing
      • High Flow Double Cone Air Filter
      • Aluminium Cowl for smooth airflow entry
      • Prepeg Carbon Fibre Intake Duct (also available in plastic)
      • Laser Cut Cold Air Scoop with Surround
      • Laser Cut Stainless Steel Brackets
      • Laser Cut Slam Panel Plate

Carbon Intake Housing and Duct

    • The filter housing comprises of a high flow filter, aluminium cowl, laser cut bracket and the carbon pod itself. The carbon pod shrouds the reverse mounted filter and smoothly shapes the airflow down to the intake tube. This smooth reduction in cross sectional area invokes the Venturi effect where the airflow accelerates whilst maintaining laminar conditions. It can be thought of as a large velocity stack – below is a diagram to show the comparison between our patent pending design and a regular intake system. Further details can be read in the Technology page. The duct channels cold air from the slam panel opening to the filter. By designing the duct to smoothly transition from the rectangular opening at the front to the circular opening for the filter, it allows the airflow to remain as direct and smooth as possible.

PATENTED TECHNOLOGY

    • Our patented filter housing has a smooth reduction in cross sectional area as it shrouds the filter and tapers down to the tubing. This geometry invokes the Venturi effect where the airflow accelerates whilst maintaining laminar conditions. It can be thought of as a large velocity stack – below is a diagram to show the comparison between our patented design and a regular intake system. Our bespoke filters aid the airflow moving through the housings and allow for an even velocity profile as the airflow exits the housings. Further details can be read in the Technology and Filters pages.

Single Duct VS Double Duct

    • During the development of our system we designed and tested both the single duct and also an extended double duct version:

    • Testing showed that the double duct did not produce more power, in fact we could not achieve the same results as we did with our single duct design. This is because the single duct allows for the smoothest and most direct airflow path to the filter and the cross sectional area of the opening is not restrictive for this engine. With the scoop directly in front of the opening there is no chance for warm air to mix with the airflow. Furthermore on the double duct, the airflow has to travel at almost a 90 degree angle from the far side of the grill to then enter the filter housing. A dyno graph comparing the single and double duct can be seen in the Performance tab.

Cold Air Scoop

    • A key feature of our system is the addition of a scoop into the grill which opens up a direct path for cold air to enter the duct. When the bonnet is closed, it prevents a direct air feed to the duct and the only path for cold air to enter is the small gap between the closed bonnet and the top of the grill – or the small slits on the other side of the grill. This means that the intake will draw some air in from the hot engine bay area. With our scoop system – when the car is in motion there is minimal chance for hot air to enter the intake and so the intake temperatures are lower than the OEM airbox. Here is a thermal imaging video of the engine bay showing how cool the intake system is after a good drive.

AIR BOXES The filter is only half the battle when designing this product, as maintaining nothing but cold air into the engine is equally important when it comes to an air intake system.  Many companies claim to have cold air intake systems, but with air boxes that only go around half of the filter, it is obvious that there is still a massive amount of ultra hot air from the radiator entering the engine directly.  The cooler the air that enters the engine, the higher the power, because cooler air is more dense, and having more air molecules entering the combustion chamber allows you to add more fuel, ultimately resulting in more power!  Higher reliability is achieved also, as an engine running cooler is an engine less prone to knock causing detonation; a true engine killer!  These engines are very sensitive and highly tuned German built machines, and the engineers at Mercedes would lose sleep at night knowing that hot air is entering their precious mechanical masterpiece of an engine.  Our intake is designed with an airbox that fully isolates the filter from every single side, and incorporates a compressible rubber gasket on it’s upper edge to seal against the hood, guaranteeing that once the hood is closed absolutely zero hot engine bay air can enter the engine.  One look at the complexity of the folds and shape of our airbox and it is easy to see why nobody else has made a fully sealed design, while simultaneously using such a large filter..  With many bends and edges formed to match the ultra-tight space available, the engineering that has gone into these assemblies is quite complex and in depth.  Even we have gone the extra length to add compound long radius bends into the process of manufacturing the inlet areas, so the factory inlet tubes fit with a tight seal, assuring that no hot engine bay air leaks inside.  This airbox is entirely designed in 3D CAD software, laser cut, CNC bent, and professionally TIG welded all by highly skilled craftsmen.  Utilizing aircraft grade 6061 Aluminum, and finished with a highly durable and heat resistant black textured powdercoating, it is easy to see that staying lightweight, maintaining the lowest temperatures and also having the highest quality is our greatest concern.     BMC FILTERS We utilize BMC air filters, with the best filtration ability of any other company in the world, companies like Lamborghini, Ferrari and Porsche are known to use BMC in certain factory applications.  You cannot have the best intake without having the best filters, and the Italian made BMC filter brand is at the top of the filter food chain.  They filter an incredible 7 micron size particle, factory paper filters can only achieve 10 microns.  The physical size of our filters are the largest available from any company on the market giving you a significantly higher surface area for filtration.  The particular BMC filter we choose to use is a twin air design, meaning there is an additional set of filter elements in the front of the filter, giving even more available flow than would otherwise be offered.  When you consider that BMC filters are already the best, and additionally we are using larger filters with more surface area than any other company, it is easy to see why greater performance is the obvious outcome in such a scenario, as we achieve higher flow!   PERSONALIZED LASER ENGRAVED LOGO PLATES Something that we are very proud of here at Blackboost is how we are able to achieve world class performance gains with only the highest quality products, while simultaneously designing things in a very visually attractive and classy manner.  Form always follows function for us, as we always prioritize the highest possible power levels, however we make a way for our products to look good as well!  Everything about our intake is beautiful, however the one touch we are especially proud of is our Laser cut and engraved Stainless steel logo plates!  With our signature Honeycomb engraving to give a well thought out look, as well as incorporating our company’s name, the information about the product, a serial number, and also the option to write who the intake is hand crafted for!  If you do not want to write your name, you can write anything you want within the available space, this is your choice, and if you choose not to write anything this is also ok.  We care a lot about make our products special and personal for the customer, and we have found that a really amazing way to do this is to give this option to write your own name or title on the logo plates.  Ultimately all of this effort results in something you can feel proud to display and show off to your friends when opening your hood!
HI-FLOW SILICONE TURBO INLET HOSE 2.0 TSI EA888 gen.3
Flow that airflow smoothly from your intake into the turbo. The Racingline Performance High-Flow Turbo Inlet Pipe for MQB Golf 7 GTI/R plus Audi S3 has been engineered to increase air flow through to the turbocharger as the perfect compliment the R600 Intake System or even the standard airbox.
WHAT IT DOES.

The VWR High-Flow Turbo Inlet Hose is for all MQB 2.0 and 1.8 TSI cars. The reinforced Silicone Inlet Hose has been engineered to increase air flow through to the turbocharger as the perfect compliment our VWR R600 Cold Air Intake or even the standard airbox.

  • A simple fitment, it replaces the entire restrictive rear factory plastic ‘bellows’ pipe between the airbox and the turbocharger inlet.
  • The large diameter smooth-flowing silicon hose, crucially with enough compliance to allow for adequate engine movement without causing damage to the intake.
  • Back-to-back comparisons with the factory pipe on our flow bench reveals an impressive improvement in airflow, and makes this hose a great compliment to the R600 intake.
  • Put simply, you'll be wasting a chunk of the hard-gotten gains from your high-flow intake system if you leave this pipe standard.
