Forge Motorsport have a worldwide reputation of making industry leading parts for an array of performance vehicles; as such we’ve been able to work with some of most knowledgeable professionals in the tuning industry to produce the most versatile Audi RS3/RSQ3/TTRS performance intake on the market. A special thanks to Litchfield Motors, MRC Tuning and KSF Motorsport who have helped our RS3 8V/8Y intake development achieve the final product you see today.
3D scans of left-hand drive (LHD) and right-hand drive (RHD) RS3 8Y’s and RS3 8V’s gave us 4 separate vehicle scans that we could then pull together into one file that has allowed us to create one intake that fits all 4 variations. So, no matter where you’re based in the world or whether you have an 8V or 8Y RS3, the Forge Motorsport FMINDK47 is the intake for you.
Trying to ensure that our performance intake is a one fit all solution also involved an understanding of how turbo inlets vary across the globe for the RS3 market. The OEM turbo elbow is an aluminium cast part with a 3” inlet tract that tapers down to the factory turbo charger cold side feed. Forge Motorsport offer and manufacture an upgraded silicone inlet elbow and turbo inlet adaptor (FMINLH9) not only to increase the area to the inlet tract but also the volumetric capacity. This has been increased to 3.5” and is the largest available product that fits RHD vehicles (due to space constraints with the brake master cylinder and is not physically possible to increase this size any further). However, this is not a problem on LHD vehicles, and as such there are various 4” variants available. To ensure our intake will work in conjunction with either the stock or any aftermarket inlet elbows on RHD or LHD vehicles we’ve incorporated an innovative solution that will be interchangeable if you wish to further enhance the engine performance of your Audi.
FMINDK47 incorporates and includes modular couplers so that it can fit any size turbo inlet you may choose to run. The machined end of the carbon intake where it meets the inlet tract to the elbow has a 4”(102mm) threaded billet attachment which tapers up to the huge 6” pleated filter on the intake side. At this billet alloy junction, it enables the end user to have interchangeable adaptors. Having this amount of adjustment with a vast increase in airflow allows this product to be suitable for stock or aftermarket turbo inlet solutions whether manufactured from silicone or aluminium. This enables the enthusiast to interchange the adaptors depending on if its currently stock or modified. FMINDK47 will support your RS3 to literally any state of tune.

Keeping inlet air temperatures (IAT’s) low is often a difficult part of developing induction systems, and several different variations were tested with FMINDK47. We decided on keeping the OEM air inlet to feed a specifically designed heat shield which sits flush up to the bonnet. An opening on the side opposite to the engine also helps with vehicles running stage 3+, as there is indirect airflow to this area and during testing a fully closed airbox caused restrictions.
Using carbon fibre brings obvious benefits of strength, weight, and aesthetics. However, a part that is often forgotten is its low thermal conductivity, which means it reduces heat soak and transmission of heat to nearby items. Replacing metal or plastic inlet solutions for FMINDK47 will help decrease IAT’s and increase the volume of air supplied to your vehicles engine that is compressed by the turbo charger. This has a better effect on performance when cool as this is to provide the engine with more oxygen (denser air), thus improving the combustion in each cylinder. In addition, by regulating and reducing the air temperature, it also increases the reliability of an engine by keeping the AFRs (air fuel ratios) in each cylinder at a safe level, which in turn, can increase an engines power due to the air being cooler. A bigger bang is then created within the cylinder, providing the correct amount of fuel is added. This can equate to an increase in BHP and torque.
We use SolidWorks CAD, 3D prints, and numerous dyno sessions to truly unlock the power. Simulation testing played a large part in the design process to help maximise the airflow. The 3D printed prototypes helped with comparing our simulation testing to real world driving conditions. This is a valuable comparison that is used in the top tiers of motorsport, now being brought to your vehicle.
Being able to test 3 different 8Y RS3’s on 3 different independent dynos has been of vital importance to our development process. One of these RS3’s was (at the time of writing) the fastest 8Y RS3 in the world making 682Whp with FMINT33, FMINLH9, FMINDK47 installed along with a TTE777 Hybrid Turbo charger, this proves the FMINDK47 has great CFM airflow ratings over the standard intake system on vehicles with such a high state of tune.
The other vehicles tested were a UK RHD 8Y running FMINT33. We then changed out from the OEM turbo inlet to FMINLH9 to confirm the differences in BHP with these extra modifications. We were also able to test on a LHD 8Y that was completely stock.
With a completely stock tune vehicle we were able to see peak gains of 6BHP. However further analysis of the dyno graph shows that this peak BHP figure was produced 200RPM earlier (6097RPM instead of 6298RPM). Additionally, the power curves were smoothed across the entirety of the rev range, with gains seen across the board. To pull out some snapshots from the rev range as examples, at 3000RPM using just FMINDK47 saw an increase of 25BHP, and at 4500RPM there was an increase of 17BHP. Torque figures saw similar gains across the rev range, with a peak torque figure increasing by 17NM at around 100RPM earlier. When we analyse the dyno graph across the rev range, at 3000RPM using just FMINDK47 saw an increase in 55NM and at 4500RPM there was an increase of 23NM.
The gains lower in the rev range are truly impressive from a driver perspective this is where the benefits can be felt and is what typically puts you in your seat when the throttle is pressed.
Vehicles with a stock tune, FMINLH9 and FMINT33 already installed hit a torque limiter earlier in the rev range with the addition of FMINDK47, which in turn can limit peak power results due to the engines ECU limiting power transmitted to the gearbox. So, if you have these three products installed, we highly recommend looking to tune your vehicle to really maximise the performance of the modifications installed.
It’s worth remembering that this is with a stock ECU and no tune. We know from the independent testing we also completed on mapped cars (such as KSF’s) that the Forge Motorsport products create unparalleled performance.
It’s worth noting that this induction kit offers a massive amount of air to the EA855 EVO DAZA or DNWA engine, which is a must for anyone looking to push the performance of their RS3 when tuning to stage 1, stage 2, and beyond. Not only do you get the BHP performance benefits, but FMINDK47 also offers a greater induction noise from the engine; particularly when on boost, our product testers have reported a more responsive throttle which is to be expected from the impressive low down power gains the Forge intake provides.

| Here at Blackboost we strive to make only the best, we are simply not interested in developing products that are just like any other. This is easy to see this when looking at our cold air intake system developed for the Mercedes W205 C63/C63s AMG with it’s BiTurbo 4.0 twin turbo engine. Many innovations exist here that are simply not seen within the rest of the aftermarket, from the type of filters we use, to the level of complexity of our air box / heat shields, to the fully sealed design, to the incorporated velocity stack, vent to atmosphere blow off valve conversion and customized logo plate. Read below to see an itemized list of what makes our product superior to the rest: AIR BOXES The filter is only half the battle when designing this product, as maintaining nothing but cold air into the engine is equally important when it comes to an air intake system. Many companies claim to have cold air intake systems, but with air boxes that only go around half of the filter, it is obvious that there is still a massive amount of ultra hot air from the radiator entering the engine directly. The cooler the air that enters the engine, the higher the power, because cooler air is more dense, and having more air molecules entering the combustion chamber allows you to add more fuel, ultimately resulting in more power! Higher reliability is achieved also, as an engine running cooler is an engine less prone to knock causing detonation; a true engine killer! These engines are very sensitive and highly tuned German built machines, and the engineers at Mercedes would lose sleep at night knowing that hot air is entering their precious mechanical masterpiece of an engine. Our intake is designed with an airbox that fully isolates the filter from every single side and incorporates a compressible rubber gasket on it’s upper edge to seal against the hood, guaranteeing that once the hood is closed absolutely zero hot engine bay air can enter the engine. One look at the complexity of the folds and shape of our airbox and it is easy to see why nobody else has made a fully sealed design, while simultaneously using such a large filter. With many bends and edges formed to match the ultra-tight space available, the engineering that has gone into these assemblies is quite complex and in depth. Even we have gone the extra length to add compound long radius bends into the process of manufacturing the inlet areas, so the factory inlet tubes fit with a tight seal, assuring that no hot engine bay air leaks inside. This airbox is entirely designed in 3D CAD software, laser cut, CNC bent, and professionally TIG welded all by highly skilled craftsmen. Utilizing aircraft grade 6061 Aluminum, and finished with a highly durable and heat resistant black textured powdercoating, it is easy to see that staying lightweight, maintaining the lowest temperatures and also having the highest quality is our greatest concern. VENT TO ATMOSPHERE BLOW OFF VALVE With this intake system, unlike many other companies, we choose to simply eliminate the factory recirculating blow off valve inlet hose, and allow the blow off valves to vent to the open atmosphere. This is a major advantage when you consider that every time the factory system recirculates air back into the front of the turbo using the Blow off Valve, it is actually sending ultra hot post-turbo compressed air back into the inlet, creating a large increase in air intake temperatures every time you release the throttle, or during shifts. By eliminating this factory recirculation, your air intake temperatures lower and your cooling system stay cooler as well. You also get the added benefit of having an awesome Wooshing Blow off valve sound, something that often people will pay for as an added option, however the elimination of this recirculating tube is standard on our kits. TURBO INTAKE TUBES Our intake tubes are made from aircraft grade and mandrel bent 6061 Aluminum, and are fabricated and TIG welded by our skilled in house craftsmen. They are also powder coated in a beautiful, highly durable, and heat dissipating textured black finish for a classy look. The real advantage to our intake tube over others on the market is the incorporated velocity stack which can be found inside the mouth of the filter. Velocity stacks are and have been used in motorsports for many years, as a means of smoothing out the flow of air entering the tube, resulting in a higher flowing design. With such a smooth and beautiful transition from the filter into the tube, air is accelerated into the turbo at a higher speed than would otherwise be seen, which results in even higher power levels, just because it is easier for the air to enter! BMC FILTERS We utilize BMC air filters, with the best filtration ability of any other company in the world, companies like Lamborghini, Ferrari and Porsche are known to use BMC in certain factory applications. You cannot have the best intake without having the best filters, and the Italian made BMC filter brand is at the top of the filter food chain. They filter an incredible 7 micron size particle, factory paper filters can only achieve 10 microns. The physical size of our filters are the largest available from any company on the market giving you a significantly higher surface area for filtration. The particular BMC filter we choose to use is a twin air design, meaning there is an additional set of filter elements in the front of the filter, giving even more available flow than would otherwise be offered. When you consider that BMC filters are already the best, and additionally we are using larger filters with more surface area than any other company, it is easy to see why greater performance is the obvious outcome in such a scenario, as we achieve higher flow! PERSONALIZED LASER ENGRAVED LOGO PLATES Something that we are very proud of here at Blackboost is how we are able to achieve world class performance gains with only the highest quality products, while simultaneously designing things in a very visually attractive and classy manner. Form always follows function for us, as we always prioritize the highest possible power levels, however we make a way for our products to look good as well! Everything about our intake is beautiful, however the one touch we are especially proud of is our Laser cut and engraved Stainless steel logo plates! With our signature Honeycomb engraving to give a well thought out look, as well as incorporating our company’s name, the information about the product, a serial number, and also the option to write who the intake is hand crafted for! If you do not want to write your name, you can write anything you want within the available space, this is your choice, and if you choose not to write anything this is also ok. We care a lot about making our products special and personal for the customer, and we have found that a really amazing way to do this is to give this option to write your own name or title on the logo plates! Another detail that is worth covering is that these logo plates actually are bolted into the airbox on a separate piece, as the filter simply will not go in or out of the box without the piece unbolting. It just goes to show, when presented with the challenge of how to fit a logo plate, we didn’t give up, we increased the complexity of our product because we care that much about giving the finishing touches that it deserves, ultimately resulting in something you can feel proud to display and show off to your friends. We expect HUGE gains on a stage 2 car with increased boost, we will perform these tests soon. What is Important to know is that we are located in UAE and therefore have some of the worst weather conditions in the world and in our Dyno room. Temperatures during testing were at 34*C, and we don’t use AC’s to cool down the dyno room. The performance gains are higher in colder countries. Using standard temperature and density equations it is easy to calculate the HP at 24*C for example. An additional 8.626 HP is seen when calculating for 10*C less, meaning you could expect a 19.8HP on a fully factory car running factory boost levels in a 24*C environment. This mathematical calculation determines air density by temperature, and results in a gain of .019% of air density and therefore HP with 10* less, which is the number used to calculate this increase of 8.656HP. We like to show this difference in how air temperature changes our results, as other companies that we compete against are usually testing in much lower temperatures, often much lower than 24*. These corrected numbers show a much more realistic comparison. The design intent was to create the largest, highest flowing intake on the market.
Starting with a massive 6″ velocity stack air filter, the intake features a 4″ aluminum pipe that connects perfectly to the turbo inlet. No restrictions, no problems. MAF sensor is placed into the same orientation as from the factory to provide perfect readings.
We also added an extra turbo heatshield in order to keep air intake temperatures as low as possible.
Without any extra tuning, peak power gains range from 10 to 15HP (fuel and elevation-dependent).
All of the components included in the CTS air intake system work flawlessly together to provide increased horsepower and torque throughout the entire power band and an aggressive race-inspired sound.
