FMINT26 is our intercooler upgrade for the Audi A4 TFSI 2020 onwards and replaces the OEM part 8W0 145 805 AD. Our objective as always was to improve and maximise the cooling efficiency to increase the vehicles performance as well as manufacture a product to the highest standard. Utilising our highly skilled CAD team and fabrication department we went to work designing an intercooler which would occupy the original space without the need to modify the vehicle, while at the same time design a product with a greater capacity core for the optimum performance.
Utilising our industry leading bar and plate design alongside Solidworks CAD and flow simulation design (Computational Fluid Dynamics – CFD) to develop a smooth flowing end tank design. The sheet metal construction was chosen to help with heat dissipation along with its weight saving properties. The bar and plate core has over 139% more volume and an increase of frontal surface area over 38% (over the stock cooler). This cleaver design manages to increase volume without any modification to the vehicle, FMINT26 is a direct fit.
We have teamed up with our good friends at Avon Tuning for the development of this project. We used their vehicle and Dimsport 4WD hydraulically linked Dyno for testing. We saw gains of 5bhp of power and 5.2Nm of torque on a vehicle running standard software, but this only tells half the story, it’s where the gains are made that’s most important. From 3000rpm is where the improvements start to happen and consistently grow all the way to the rev limiter. It this area where the TFSI engine feels its weakest in stock form so with the addition our intercooler this is a welcome improvement. Adding Stage one software and an aftermarket exhaust system will really unlock the full potential of the intercooler and the Audis engine power unit. IATs (inlet air temperatures) were logged, and we saw consistent improvement here also.
FMINT26 is finished in our black anti-corrosion powder coating which not only helps preserve this intercooler from harsh environments it also aids its thermal properties and as with all Forge Motorsport fabricated products this intercooler has the legendary Forge Lifetime warranty.

Our core was engineered to offer a greater overall surface area for increased heat absorption as well as dissipation.VRSF HD Intercooler CoreThe most important component of any intercooler is the core. The core cools the charged air from the turbo before it enters the engine and the OEM BMW tube and fin intercooler is designed to support low boost levels and air flow. When tuned, airflow and boost levels are increased significantly. This causes the OEM intercooler to heat soak and reduces HP and increases the chance of pre-detonation. We remedy this problem with our proprietary, high density bar and plate intercooler core which utilizes a staggered and offset internal and external fin pack. The VRSF HD core has been carefully balanced to provide the the best intake temperature reduction while maintaining minimal pressure drop. The VRSF HD core is also much more durable than the OEM tube and fin core, with a better ability to withstand rocks and other debris. The VRSF 5″ Performance HD & 6.5″ Competition HD Intercoolers are comprised of an incredibly dense fin pack both internally and externally. It’s not uncommon to see intake temperatures drop at the end of a 3rd gear pull due to the larger overall internal and external surface area. You can expect to see an intake temperature reduction on a stock turbo, full bolt on car during a 3rd gear pull which is why the VRSF HD is THE best option for your N55. Please note that the HD fin pack is now standard at no extra charge! The VRSF 5″ Performance HD is capable of supporting up to 600whp whereas the 6.5″ Competition HD is capable of supporting up to 800whp.Installation & ConstructionWe include everything required to replace the OEM intercooler. All VRSF intercoolers feature tabs that allow the retention of the factory fan shroud and our CFD optimized cast end tanks are designed to work with both the OEM intercooler piping as well as any aftermarket charge pipe that adapts to the OEM FMIC. After each intercooler is pressure tested, we then apply a thermal dispersant coating which ensure a leak free experience along with superior protection against the elements. | Boost Cooler water injection can achieve a power increase of up to 10-25% in turbo and supercharged engines without thermally overloading the engine. The charge air temperature is lowered by up to 60°C, the combustion chamber is cooled and the thermal load on already tuned vehicles is effectively reduced.
Water or water/alcohol (methanol or ethanol) is injected at high pressure into the hot charge air in a finely atomised form as soon as the desired starting charge pressure is reached. The evaporating liquid achieves an extremely effective charge air and intercooling, which, among other things, prevents uncontrolled combustion ("knocking"). The effect is demonstrably comparable with 116 octane racing petrol.
The Boost Cooler is unsurpassed in atomisation! The liquid is swirled inside the Hyper-Sonic atomiser nozzle at supersonic speed before being forced through the Venturi orifice. With the included Dual Stage Upgrade, 2 atomiser nozzles are used to inject as early as possible with the primary nozzle and to achieve maximum cooling and performance in peak loads with the switched-on 2nd nozzle.

| The CTS MK6 2.0T Direct Fit FMIC Kit is designed as a drop in replacement for the OEM front mounted intercooler (FMIC). That means you can install this kit without any trimming or modification of the bumper. The OEM FMIC is adequate for stock boost levels, however once boost levels are increased by way of ECU upgrades/chipping the OEM FMIC struggles to keep the charged air temperatures in check. Higher charged air temperatures can result in boost cut and timing pull, both reducing the amount of power your vehicle produces.
The CTS direct fit FMIC uses a high efficiency bar and plate intercooler core, which aids in reducing pressure drop. Reducing pressure drop means that your turbo will not have to work as hard to make a given level of boost. If your turbo makes 30psi of boost pressure in the turbocharger, and your intercooler has a 10psi pressure drop then the boost measured by your ECU would be (30psi – 10psi) = 20psi. With an efficient FMIC like the CTS direct fit FMIC your turbo does not have to work as hard to reach desired boost levels. This is beneficial in two ways, the turbo life expectancy is increased due to more efficient operation, and boost leaving the turbocharger is cooler and more dense resulting in more power to the ground.
