With the success of turbo inlet adaptors for a number of platforms and engine configurations we took the opportunity to further our product range for the VW MK8 GTI. We looked to see if we could improve on the air flow to the turbo charger. On investigation we could see that the OEM turbo adaptor was restrictive and was an area in need for improvement. Therefore, our highly skilled development team got to work designing a solution to maximize the capacity by utilizing our CAD system and physical prototypes.

 

The OEM plastic turbo inlet includes a ribbed hose that also disturbs the air flow within the inlet tract, this OEM part has a detrimental effect to the engines performance especially when tuned. For the best possible gains, we have included a smooth silicone inlet hose that is included in the kit and meets the forge turbo elbow seamlessly, this product not only enhances the look of your vehicles engine bay the TIA6 inlet elbow and hose increase the volume and air flow significantly, this ensures the transition is as smooth as possible from the inlet tract to the turbo.

Suitable for both left and right hand drive vehicles the turbo elbow is made from cast aluminium and machined to the perfect tolerance to enable a superb fit, this is a product that can be installed in approximately 30 minutes with only a few tools and can easily be accomplished by even the most novice enthusiast.

During independent testing on a stock vehicle we found the throttle response to be increased with a gain of 12NM torque between 2000RPM and 2400RPM  while holding noticeable smoother torque figure to just over 3300RPM along with a slight increase of BHP at 5300RPM, These figures can be expected to increase the more the vehicle is tuned and will typically produce a gain of around 7 BHP on stage 1 tuned vehicles this is because at the entry point to the inlet elbow the surface area in increased by 30%.

Combined with our product FMMD6 the turbo charger works more freely and should certainly be considered as one of the first two modifications to carry out on the new 2.0 petrol turbo (TSI) (EA888 GEN4 engine) with the engine code DNP and replaces the OEM part number 5WA.129.635

  • The Forge silicone hose in this kit has been designed to include an expensive inner liner of modified silicone known as Fluorosilicone.
  • This means the hose is suitable to be used with either modern long-life coolants, Organic Acid Technology coolants (O.A.T.) or air containing oil mist.

At CTS Turbo we are proud to announce our new intercooler charge pipes for the B9 Audi A4, A5, AllRoad 1.8T/2.0T. The OEM charge piping uses a rubber hose as turbo outlet connection and plastic cold-side pipes with a flow-impeding “resonator”. Factory piping is not optimized for performance; so we had to step in and make our charge pipe set of 2.5″ aluminum mandrel-bent tube. Our parts replace soft turbo outlet hose and the small resonated plastic throttle body pipe. All of the components included in the CTS charge pipe set work flawlessly together to provide increased efficiency, horsepower and torque throughout the entire power-band. By removing the restricting resonator on the cold-side piping, you can enjoy a slight increase in turbo sound! Product Details:

The 2.0 TSI Turbo Inlet is an essential addition to your airflow package - ultra-thin-wall, double O-ring flow from intake straight into turbo.
WHAT THE 2.0 TSI TURBO INLET DOES.

A simple fitment, the ultra-thin-wall VWR High-Flow Turbo 90 Inlet is a large diameter, free flowing intake elbow, delicately CNC machined from aluminium billet to replace the small and restrictive plastic factory inlet.

  • The factory inlet forces the airflow to taper right down to pass through a tight and restrictive bend - in other words, terrible for flow. 
  • The RacingLine Turbo 90 is the thinnest-wall construction on the market for highest flow. Twin O-rings ensure the perfect seal. Some of our rivals' less carefully-machined, or even thick cast versions rob valuable airflow.
  • Put simply, without it, you’re wasting much of the potential of your high-flow intake system without fitting the Turbo 90. An essential upgrade!

TTE IS38Race IHI Turbocharger   Many of our customers have been asking for a motorsport IS38 turbocharger, Well here it is! TTE IS38Race Turbocharger is based on the Original Genuine IHI IS38 turbocharger for the EA888.3 2.0TSI VAG Engine, not a cheap aftermarket clone IS38 turbo that are available from others and not disclosed. A TTE IS38Race has a TTE upgrade performance bearing pack and motorsport balanced TTE core using the IHI Bearing housing and IHI IS38 turbine and Genuine IHI IS38 compressor wheel giving a reliable performance at higher boost levels as used on Stage 1 & 2 software calibrations from all software providers.  We also include our TTE CNC silencer delete, removing the original baffle internals and fitting a new billet straight through section to improve the flow and enhance the sound. This is a direct swap from a standard IS38 so no remap or special calibration required vs standard is38 software.   Precisely balancing the IS38Race turbocharger is a key critical factor to become a TTE upgrade unit as longevity and performance are paramount. Subsequent great care is taken with all TTE turbochargers to achieving our balance standards. Firstly parts are balanced at slow speeds up to 2800RPM in multiple planes using our single parts balance machine, then components are assembled and then the CHRA is dynamically balanced, but this time depending on the application at up to 250,000 RPM in multiple planes using our in house VSR machine to acquire the ultimate equilibrium, to a standard far higher than OEM. WHAT THE TURBO INLET SYSTEM DOES.

Our new Turbo Inlet System for the 300-320PS MQB 'EVO' cars such as Golf 8R, GTI CS, Audi S3 8Y etc is a matched package of our much larger diameter, free flowing Turbo 90 Inlet paired with reinforced Silicone Turbo Inlet Hose for much higher airflow between intake and turbo.

  • The factory inlet forces the airflow to pass through the restrictive plastic 'bellows' pipe, before tapering right down to run through a tight and restrictive plastic turbo inlet - in other words, terrible for flow. 
  • The RacingLine Turbo Inlet System replaces this pipework with a larger diameter smooth-flowing silicon hose mated to a larger diameter thin-wall free flowing intake elbow.
  • The internal diameter of the Turbo 90 Inlet is massively increased from 74mm on the factory part right up to 84mm.
  • It's by combining the two parts of the kit that's allowed us to enlarge the diameter of both the Inlet and the Hose so much - and so give the maximum possible gains.
  • Put simply, without it, you’re wasting much of the potential of your high-flow intake system without fitting this Turbo Inlet System. An essential upgrade!
